Polyurethane (PU), a type of polymer, possesses a thermoplastic linear structure with good stability, chemical resistance, and resilience. It is commonly used in the production of footwear, coatings, adhesives, furniture, and building insulation. Due to its widespread applications, large-scale production and sales began in China in 2016. However, in the production of polyurethane, foam-related issues may arise, and this is where polyurethane defoamers come into play.

What foam problems can polyurethane defoamers solve?

1.Production of Hard Foam Boards: In the production of rigid foam boards from polyurethane, various additives such as foaming agents, catalysts, and flame retardants are used. Excessive foaming during this process can make it challenging to achieve the desired density of rigid foam boards. Polyurethane defoamers can be used to control foam generation and obtain better density in polyurethane rigid foam boards.

2.Use in Coatings and Adhesives: When polyurethane is used for coatings, adhesives, etc., chemical additives such as thickeners are often added. During various production processes involving high temperatures, stirring, etc., foaming may occur, hindering the effectiveness of polyurethane. Polyurethane defoamers can help eliminate unwanted foam in such cases.

3.Use as a Coating: When polyurethane is used as a coating and uneven surfaces, air ingress, or other factors cause foaming during the coating process, polyurethane defoamers can be used to address the issue.
